The City of Emporia will begin a new process as part of the Emporia Municipal Court docket next year.
The court will offer a walk-in docket beginning January, 9 that will allow unrepresented defendants to be seen by the judge on a first come first serve basis according to City Director of Court Services Tyler Lowe.
Those wishing to come before the judge will need to sign in with the City Clerkâs Office the day of the docket no later than 9:45 am.
The docket will take place every Tuesday from 10 am to 10:30 am and will be limited to the first 15 defendants to sign in. During the docket, defendants will be able to address warrants, modify payment agreements and request an advancement or continuance of court dates.
The judge will not hear discussions on arraignments, expungement requests, diversion inquiries, pretrial, plea or revocation hearings, trials or sentencings. Individuals with questions or who would like more information on the new docket should contact the Emporia Municipal Court at 620-343-5666.
