Lyon County deputies are investigating what can best be described as an unusual non-injury crash early Monday.
Deputies were called to Interstate 35 mile marker 137.5 after a funeral home transport vehicle went off the highway. Deputy Nathan Rankin says driver was carrying a body southbound from Kansas City to a Wichita funeral home when the vehicle went into the center median. It then back across part of the highway and went into a ditch.
The driver was not hurt.
Rankin says the circumstances behind the wreck are under investigation. The driver’s name and the identity of the body are not being divulged. Neither is the identity of the Wichita funeral home where the body was being transported.
