11 area wrestlers are ranked in the first regular season rankings from the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association.
Five are from Emporia High. Three Spartans are ranked. Freshman Gabe Wassom is ranked third in 5A and sixth in all classes at 106 pounds. Junior Christian Trujillo is ranked sixth at 157. Senior Josiah Bradley is ranked fifth at 285. Two Lady Spartans are ranked. Senior Virginia Munoz is ranked fourth in 6-5A at 135. Sophomore Alexa Castillo is fourth at 235.
Areawide, on the girls side, Chase County’s Kinzie Rogers is ranked third at 110 in 4-1A. On the boys side, Burlingame’s Logan Courtois is ranked No. 1 at 132 in 3-2-1A and is sixth in all classes. Burlingame’s Chase Courtois is sixth at 106. Chase County’s Micah Cauthers is sixth at 190. Council Grove’s Ace Monihen is third at 215 while Holden Ziegler is fifth at 285.
