We’re just over a week away from the Seasonal Celebration as organized by USD 253 Emporia.
Students from Emporia Middle School and Emporia High will perform both instrumental and vocal holiday music from around the world. On KVOE’s airwaves recently, Emporia High Choir Director Sarah Bays said she can’t wait for the performances.
Band Director Glenn Woolard says there’s a lot of practice involved to get the music ready. There’s also practice so students can go to the different ensembles if needed.
Emporia High Theater Director Kacie Hastings said her students are getting ready to manage the stage, including lighting and sound, for everything to come.
Middle School Choir Director Monika Markus said her students are ready to go.
The program will be at 7 pm both Dec. 13-14. Doors at White Auditorium will open at 6 pm both nights. This year, the suggested donation for adults goes from $3 to $5, although students and young children will be admitted free of charge. The event will have sign language interpreters as well as seating for the hearing impaired.
This year’s dress rehearsal is at noon Dec. 13. Flash photography is welcome for the dress rehearsal but not for the performances.
