Work continues on the Peyton Street waterline improvement project, and the city of Emporia is alerting a handful of nearby residents of upcoming service disruptions — possibly as soon as Wednesday.
Communications Manager Christine Torrens says service may be disrupted along Peyton Drive between Peyton Street and Watson Street with water main construction along Peyton Drive beginning Wednesday.
Work has been underway since October to build out a new 16-inch waterline connecting the city’s two water towers. By spring 2024, there will be new water main along East 12th from Topeka to Peyton, along Peyton from 12th to Sixth and along South Avenue from Peyton to Carter as part of this nearly $2.5 million project.
