Emporia State junior outside hitter Sandora Sasaki has been named Third Team All-American by the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA). The unanimous First Team All-MIAA honoree led the league in kills on the way to setting a program record with 4.8 kills per set. Her 503 kills were the most by a Lady Hornet since Arica Shephard blasted 524 in 2009. Sasaki was third in the country in kills per set and had seven matches with at least 20 kills this season. She’s the first Emporia State All-American in volleyball since Brittney Miller earned first team honors in 2010 and Ting Liu was named honorable mention. The Lady Hornets finished 13-16 and made the MIAA Tournament with a 7-13 league record winning nine more games than last season with a six-win improvement in conference play.
