The winter months have historically been an extra busy time for Emporia’s Abundant Harvest and this year is no exception.
According to Emporia Rescue Mission Director Lee Alderman, a recent guest of KVOE’s Talk of Emporia, the high demand seen over the summer and fall has not subsided with the calendar year coming to a close.
This comes with daily food giveaways still ongoing from 5 am to 7:30 am, cooked meals available for pickup every Monday and Wednesday at 4 pm and volunteers conducting roughly 30 food reclamation pickups each week. Alderman says they are also still in the process of forming new partnerships with local businesses to assist in food reclamation.
This includes Good’s Cash Saver which Alderman says they just recently entered into a partnership with earlier this year.
