A preliminary hearing is coming next year for an Emporia man accused of sexually abusing a young child.
Formal charges were filed this week against 64-year-old Antoine Moliere, who was arrested by Emporia Police on Friday. Moliere faces one count of rape, with an alternate count of aggravated indecent liberties. The rape count in the legal complaint says Moliere allegedly engaged in illegal activity with a child as young as 5 years old at some point between early February and mid-April. The indecent liberties charge says Moliere was involved in illegal actions earlier this month.
Moliere had his first appearance in Lyon County District Court on Monday. His prelim will be at 2 pm Feb. 8, with Rick Meier appointed as defense counsel. Bond has been set at $150,000. Other bond conditions include GPS monitoring and a court directive not to leave Lyon County.
Moliere also has lifetime registration as a sex offender after a 2005 conviction for sexual abuse of a minor in Maryland two years earlier
