Longtime Nuestra Musica Radio Show host Vic Rodriguez passed away earlier this week.
Nuestra Musica debuted on KVOE in 1994 and Rodriguez, already an experienced DJ after several stops in Texas, hosted the program from its inception. Rodriguez saw Nuestra Musica expand into syndication, first into Salt Lake City in 2016, then nationwide in 2017 and internationally into the United Kingdom in 2018. He was inducted into the Tejano Roots Hall of Fame in 2022
Rodriguez was also an accomplished drummer and was a founder of the Las Casitas Association, a local organization dedicated to celebrating the contributions and cultures of the Hispanic community. He was also a driving force behind the Amanda Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship Fund, honoring the memory of his sister, who died during the COVID-19 pandemic.
