Chief judges at the Kansas District Court level have been reappointed.
Jeff Larson was reappointed as the lead judge in the Fifth District, which covers Lyon and Chase counties. Larson has served as a district judge since 2007. He was elevated to chief judge in AUgust 2022 after the retirement of Merlin Wheeler.
Also:
*Taylor Wine, the Fourth District’s chief judge since 2019, was reappointed. He has been a district judge since 2018. The Fourth District serves Coffey, Osage, Anderson and Franklin counties.
*Benjamin Sexton was reappointed for the Eighth District, serving Morris, Geary, Dickinson and Marion counties. Sexton has been the district’s chief judge since August 2021 and has been on the bench since 2001.
*David Ricke was reappointed to serve the 13th District involving Greenwood, Butler and Elk counties. Ricke has been a judge since 2004 and has been the chief judge since 2012.
Chief judges serve two-year terms. The upcoming term runs from New Year’s Day 2024 through Dec. 31, 2025.
