A memorandum of understanding related to the Emporia Recreation Commission’s plans to construct a new rec center could gain the ERC’s approval Monday.
The MOU for the creation of a steering committee for the project will come before commissioners as part of their monthly board meeting Monday evening. The MOU is a separate yet related item to the ERC’s proposed half-cent to full-cent sales tax which they hope to place on a future election ballot to serve as the funding source for the new rec center project.
Following the ERC’s meeting, the MOU will go before the Emporia City Commission for consideration and possible action during their regular meeting Wednesday.
In other business, commissioners will review current ERC fees, the proposed 2024 Jones Aquatic Center Agreement and the board’s first meeting of 2024 which is currently scheduled for Martin Luther King Day. The regular leadership team updates, a review of employee retention tax credit income and one executive session for non-elected personnel matters are also on the agenda.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm inside of the Lee Beran Recreation Center.
