With its bell-ringing campaign ending this week, the Salvation Army of Emporia is directing attention to another assistance effort coming soon.
The Salvation Army says government commodity food boxes for low-income families and people living in Lyon County will be available for pickup for a short period of time Wednesday afternoon. Residents need to go to the Slavation Army office at 209 West Fourth between 1-2 pm or until all the food has been passed out.
The Salvation Army says residents need to have a photo ID, family name, number of people in the household and the household address to pick up food. Proxy forms must be on file in case a resident needs somebody else to pick up the food.
