Emporia city commissioners don’t have a study meeting Wednesday, but they have a hefty action session agenda.
Commissioners will start with a public hearing to amend the 2023 budget followed by a possible vote. After appointments to several boards, commissioners have several resolutions — support of access to materials and information at the Emporia Public Library, a notice of proposed transfer of Quaker Park into the Emporia Land Bank and a drawdown of $250,000 from the Kahola Fund for a skate park inside Whittier Park.
A memorandum of understanding between the city and Emporia Recreation Commission to form a steering committee for a possibly new or enhanced public rec center will be addressed, as will a supplemental agreement with BG Consultants on the Southeast Transmission Water Main project from 12th and Garfield to South and Carter.
A maintenance contract with the library, an ordinance for a water rate increase, a new golf rate structure and an agreement with KDOT for a Transportation Alternatives program are all part of the consent agenda, where several items can be handled with one vote.
The action meeting starts at 11 am Wednesday at the Municipal Court Room.
