An Olpe High student has been nominated for admission to the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Grace Coughlin was nominated after her participation in US Senator Roger Marshall’s Military Service Academy interview process. She was one of 53 high school students involved in the interviews and one of 38 to get a nomination.
The nomination doesn’t end the process for Coughlin and the other nominees. All students receiving nominations are reviewed by Academy staffers before a decision on whether the students are accepted. Students admitted to Academies get a bachelor’s degree. They must also serve at least five years of active duty followed by three years of inactive duty after they graduate.
