Four years ago, Emporia voters approved the nearly $80 million Building for the Future bond package for major improvements to all USD 253 schools. Construction continues to move along well, as Superintendent Allison Anderson-Harder mentioned on the KVOE Showcase this week:
This means construction is done at Emporia Middle School, Emporia High, Logan Avenue and Walnut.
The last school to see work will be William Allen White, and construction there could begin by March. A new addition will hold a new music room, kitchen and a multipurpose room that will double as a high-wind shelter. William Allen White will also have a renovated front office space, media center, heating ventilation and air conditioning work throughout the building and renovated kindergarten classrooms.
