The Emporia Fire Department isn’t the only area agency to benefit from a Clint Bowyer 79 Fund grant through the Emporia Community Foundation.
The Chase County Sheriff’s Office got a grant for over $8,600 to buy a DUI education program, including a motorized two-seat go-kart, fatal vision goggles and other equipment and activities.
The goal is to use the Chase County Drug Free Action Team student coalition at USD 284 Chase County to begin teaching the DUI program to other students. The Sheriff’s Office says it is excited to have the program available as a deterrent to driving under the influence, regardless of whether it means alcohol or drugs.
