Lyon County has a new Community Corrections Director following the county commission’s weekly action meeting Thursday morning.
Commissioners unanimously approved the appointment of Erin Rodriguez as the department’s next director. Rodriguez has filled the position on an interim basis since former director Steve Willis resigned back in October after leading the agency for six years.
In addition to the interim role, Rodriguez had previously served as the department’s operations manager for five years and has been with Community Corrections for more than 20. She says being named the new permanent director was a great feeling and thanked many of her co-workers who encouraged her to pursue the position.
As far as changes go under her leadership, Rodriguez tells KVOE News she does not plan to make any major adjustments saying Willis left the department in a good place before his departure. While she is not planning to implement any changes, Rodriguez says her appointment comes just a few months after the department launched a pair of new programs that she is very excited about.
In other business Thursday, commissioners approved a quote from HD Supply for a floor scrubber replacement at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building and a separate $15,000 quote from D&L Trailer Sales for an 18-foot trailer with loading ramps. Commissioners also approved a $36,000 invoice from D&T Auto Sales for a pickup to benefit the Lyon County Appraiser’s Office and the 2023 audit fee of $35,500 from Agler and Gaeddert.
Commissioners also held a single executive session for confidential data exchange with no action taken. County commissioners will reconvene for their weekly meeting at 9 am Thursday inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
