Most of the KVOE listening area remains in abnormally dry or moderate drought conditions. For the first time in months, part of the KVOE listening area is totally out of drought.
The US Drought Monitor shows portions of northeast Lyon and central Osage counties as removed from drought, following close to an inch of rainfall areawide Dec. 15.
Abnormally dry conditions now cover much of central, north and east Lyon County, as well as the northern third of Coffey County, most of Osage County and central and southeast Wabaunsee County. Moderate drought remains for northwest and south Lyon County, as well as all of Chase, Greenwood and Morris counties and the southern two-thirds of Coffey County.
