A Melvern man is in custody in Osage County following a traffic stop near Melvern Thursday evening.
According to Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells, the stop was conducted at 305th and Paulen Road just before 5:25 pm. A deputy stopped a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Joseph Steinke for an alleged traffic violation.
During the investigation, illegal narcotics were located in the vehicle and Steinke was arrested on suspicion of Possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, interference with law enforcement and expired registration. Steinke was taken to the Osage County Jail where he remains at last word.
Formal charges are pending.
