With Crosswinds Counseling and Wellness in the process of vacating its longtime home at 1000 Lincoln Street, Newman Regional Health has approved plans to occupy the space by late next year.
The Newman Board of Trustees approved a network expansion to the space at 1000 Lincoln during its monthly meeting Wednesday afternoon. Newman CEO Cathy Pimple says the hospital will be relocating several departments and services to the space including its hospice care.
Pimple says staff are excited for the move for several reasons.
The hospital’s accounting department will also be moving to the new space with Pimple saying the expansion will clear out much of Cora Miller Hall which also houses Emporia State University’s Nursing Department, another program that is preparing for a relocation with plans to move back to the ESU campus soon. Pimple says Miller Hall will then be repurposed, however, exact plans for the space are still being developed.
Pimple says they are hoping to begin renovations at 1000 Lincoln by mid-summer and have all staff and services fully relocated to the space by the end of 2024.
In other business Wednesday, the board approved a combination new and updated radiology and fluoroscopy system for the hospital. Pimple tells KVOE News plans are to begin work on the new facility in the springtime.
Separately Wednesday, the board approved the hospital’s 2024 budget as well as separate financial requests for an infant security system and an orthopedic surgical robotic arm system. The monthly financial report showed strong volumes for both inpatient and outpatient revenues with both coming in over budget at 14 and 13 percent respectively.
The Newman Regional Health Board of Trustees will reconvene for its monthly meeting in January at the hospital.
