Emporia Spartan Boxing is off to a great start at the 2024 Silver Gloves regional tournament.
Edgar Gomez (106 lbs) and Ryker Gorton (100 lbs) both picked up opening round victories Friday. Gomez picked up his win by referee stoppage in the first round.
Both Gorton and Gomez now advance to day two with a trip to the Silver Gloves national tournament on the line.
Also in competition on day two will be Zaiden Ortiz (170 lbs) and Gio Cervantez (145 lbs). All bouts are being held at Fremont Boxing Club in Fremont, Nebraska.
First bell for day two is scheduled for 1 pm.
