The Emporia High boys wrestling team finished 14th at the Dodge City Invitational held at United Wireless Arena in Dodge City on Saturday.
Emporia High recorded 46.5 points as a team. The Spartans’ top finisher was freshman Gabe Wassom, who finished third at 106 with a 4-1 record. Wassom suffered his first loss of the season in the championship bracket before bouncing back in the third-place match with a victory by fall over Cruz Cannon of Hutchinson. Junior Isaiah Morales finished fourth at 126. Morales went 3-2 on the day dropping his two matches in the championship bracket. Senior Josiah Bradley finished fifth at 285 with a 4-1 record. Tayten Erving (165), Christian Trujillo (157), Jackson Goodman (132), and Holden Timmons (113) each finished seventh in their respective weight classes. Sophomore Jose Vargas finished eighth with a 1-3 record at 285. Junior Landon Wohletz finished eighth at 138.
Emporia High is scheduled to host a double dual with Paola and Seaman on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Spartans will dual Paola first and then at approx. 7 p.m., they’ll dual Seaman.
