The Emporia High girls wrestling team finished sixth in the Dodge City Invitational held at United Wireless Arena in Dodge City on Saturday.
Sophomore Alexa Castillo claimed the lone individual championship for the Lady Spartans by going 4-0 at 235 pounds. Castillo won three of her four matches by fall. Senior Katina Keosybounheuang finished second at 120. She went 4-1, winning her four matches by fall before being pinned by Kayla Cramer of Manhattan in the championship match. Freshman Chloe Steele finished third at 110 with a 2-2 record. Senior Virginia Munoz finished fourth at 135 with a 3-2 record. Sophomore Kensley Medrano went 3-2 at 130 to take fourth. Junior Heily Batres finished sixth at 105 with a 2-3 record. Sophomore Claire Starr finished sixth at 125 with a 3-2 record.
Yaneli Carranza (155) and Breanna Wolf (145) each finished seventh in their respective weight classes. Senior Eryn Templeton finished eighth at 140.
Emporia High is scheduled to host a double dual against Paola and Seaman on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Lady Spartans will dual Paola first and at approx. 7 p.m., they’ll face Seaman.
