Two Emporia Spartan Boxers are headed to Silver Gloves nationals following regional competition this weekend.
Edgar Gomez (106 lbs) would win his opening round bout via referee stoppage Friday and was unopposed on day two punching his ticket to the national tournament next month. Joining Gomez will be Zaiden Ortiz (170 lbs) who won his day two bout via decision.
Also in action for Spartan Boxing this weekend were Ryker Gorton (100 lbs) and Gio Cervantez (145 lbs) Gorton was 1-1 on the weekend winning his opening bout via split decision. Gorton was defeated via decision in the finals.
Cervantez was 0-1 losing via decision on day two in just his second career bout.
The Silver Gloves National Tournament will take place in Independence, Missouri February 1-3.
