A Lyon County Highway Department employee went to Newman Regional Health with suspected minor injuries following an accident involving a county dump truck just outside of Americus Wednesday morning.
According to Lyon County Deputy Jody Meyers, the accident was reported around 8:20 am in the 2300 block of Road F5, Americus Road. Sheriff’s Deputies along with Emporia/Lyon County EMS responded to the scene where they found an overturned 2001 Sterling dump truck driven by 59-year-old Ricky Sickler of Hartford.
According to Meyers, Sickler was driving a dump truck southbound when the trucks passenger side tires dropped off the roadway causing Sickler to overcorrect and overturn into the east ditch. Sickler was taken by ambulance to Newman and was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
