The Emporia High boys swim team finished third in its home invitational Thursday afternoon.
Emporia High finished with 339 points, finishing behind team champion Seaman and Junction City.
The top finish came from the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Logan Woydziak, Luke Marshall, Broden Podrebarac and Tyler Luthi with a time of 4:00.65. Navarro finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:22.98. Luke Marshall finished fourth with a time of 2:28.60. Luthi finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:36.19. Woydziak was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.14. The 200-yard medley relay team of Broden Podrebarac, Woydziak, Anderson and Navarro finished fifth at 2:00. Anderson finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:05.85. Marshall finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.84. Navarro finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:33.65. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Luthi, Navarro, Anderson and Woydziak finished fifth at 1:44.80.
Emporia High coach Jamie Dawson said there are going to have to be other swimmers who will need to step up as the season continues to roll on.
The Spartans will next be in action at Campus next Thursday. The Spartan divers will have their first meet of 2024 after Tuesday’s meet was canceled due to weather at home this coming Tuesday. The 11-dive meet will begin at 1 p.m. at the Emporia High pool.
