The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says the New Year’s Taking Down DUI enforcement effort was busy.
Deputy Jody Meyers says the enforcement campaign made 45 stops between Dec. 26-Jan. 2. Deputies arrested four people for suspected DUI. They also issued 22 citations for speeding and handled 18 other unspecified citations and arrests. Deputies used almost 40 hours of overtime saturation patrols to target impaired drivers.
Meyers says campaigns like this one are designed “to save lives and reduce injury on our Kansas roads.” The campaign was supported by a Kansas Department of Transportation grant.
