The court process begins Tuesday afternoon for an Emporia man accused of kidnapping and other violent activity earlier this week.
Daniel Olivarez now faces 11 total counts in Lyon County District Court, including one count of aggravated kidnapping, two for kidnapping, two for aggravated assault and one each for aggravated battery, aggravated robbery, aggravated residential burglary, criminal threat, violating a protection order and interference with law enforcement.
Olivarez was charged after allegedly breaking into a southeast Emporia home late Monday night, holding the people inside at gunpoint and then having one of the alleged victims drive him to another location in south-central Emporia on Tuesday morning. Olivarez surrendered to authorities after a better than three-hour standoff. The legal complaint indicates an adult and two juveniles were held against their will.
The first court appearance in this case is at 1:15 pm Tuesday.
