Six projects will receive funds through the United Way of the Flint Hills’ United for Racial Equity grant program.
United Way CEO Mickey Edwards made the announcement Monday morning. Receiving funds are:
*CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness: $700 for increasing outreach
*Eastside Community Group and A’Kena Long-Benton: $1,000 for For Colored Girls
*Emporia Spanish Speakers: $2,000 for Los Puentes Youth Spanish Program
*Flint Hills Technical College: $1,500 for En Esto Juntos!
*Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow: $2,000 for Cinco de Mayo
*House of Morrow: $2,000 for Diverse Voices/Voces Diversas
Edwards says the program was developed “to promote community engagement and civic action” as ways to foster racial equity in several areas: early childhood and youth education, health and economic mobility.
