Emporia City Commissioners are convening for their regular action and study meetings Wednesday.
As part of the action agenda, commissioners will consider approval of a conditional use permit for 502 Commercial for remodeling and renovations to include the construction of three “garden level” apartments. The conditional use permit was considered the best course of action by city staff as zoning regulations due not directly address subterranean apartments.
Commissioners will also consider a resolution that states the city’s support of Medicaid expansion across Kansas. Commissioners could also award stormwater improvements for the Sunset Lake Addition, approve an ordinance exempting the city from provisions of KSA 12-1222, a separate ordinance for the Emporia Public Library’s board appointments and the city’s 2024 legislative policy.
The city’s study session will follow in room 1AB during which time commissioners will discuss city codes related to parks and recreation, rehabilitation of the bandstand in Fremont Park, the latest Homelessness Advisory board update and exhaust brakes.
The meetings begin at 11 am inside of the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
