It’s 2024, but it isn’t too late for All-American football awards for 2023 Emporia State football. Four players were named Don Hansen All-Americans this week. Wide receiver Tyler Kahmann picked up his fourth All-American honor and was named to the Second Team while punter Ross Brungardt, quarterback Braden Gleason, and offensive lineman Sherman Deaton were all named Honorable Mention. Kahmann also received second team honors from the AP and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association while also making the D2Football.com Elite 100 list. Gleason was also named to the Elite 100 while Brungardt and Deaton picked up their first All-American awards with the selection. The Don Hansen All-America list’s namesake was a longtime publisher of Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette. The Hornets went 9-3 in 2023 and capped off the season with a win in the 2023 Fun Town RV Heritage Bowl.
