The Spotlight is the semi-annual magazine for alumni and friends of Emporia State University.
The Fall issue was delivered to our home by mail recently. If you too got one please look at it. If not, copies are available at the ESU Foundation at 1500 Highland Street.
The Fall issue is titled: Focused on the Future with numerous stories about students and programs at ESU.
Today, Steve shares about three articles to gain your interest.
The front page of the Spotlight features a rendering of the new Nursing + Student Wellness Center scheduled to open in 2025. Many great pictures accompany the article.
The new center’s simulation hospital suite will include emergency, adult, pediatric, and obstetrics simulation training labs and care rooms, providing nursing students with robust learning environments covering a broad spectrum of patient care
Our nursing school’s future is indeed exciting..
The second article Steve highlights is about Hailey Waltner who laughs when explaining how her days at ESU have been a bit of a blur. Whether on campus or off, her weekly schedule is a procrastinator’s nightmare, a maze of classes, work, and campus activities that requires a planner to keep her on track and on time.
You will love Hailey’s story!
Last but not least is about Xavier Cason a larger-than-life Hornet football offensive lineman who received All American mention this year.
Xavier, a rough and tumble 300-pound athlete from Junction City is of all things an elementary education major who plays the piano and saxophone. Only the obvious scheduling conflicts kept X from playing in the ESU Marching Band. He also is a campus leader.
Three stories that illustrate the depth of the positive activities happening at ESU! Hopefully, you’ve already read the Fall 23 Spotlight.
With Steve’s thoughts, I’m Bobbi Sauder.
