Conversations continue at Flint Hills Technical College about facilities.
The college’s Board of Trustees got an updated Facilities Condition Index report from Josh Walker of Lloyd Builders at its December meeting, followed by a formal report at the January meeting. College President Caron Daugherty says the conversations are underway for a simple reason: the college is running out of space.
Daugherty says increased space and expanding programs is a need now, based on various employer demands projected over the next three to five years. Daugherty specified industrial engineering and dental hygiene during KVOE’s most recent Tech Talk, but she has also mentioned an advanced manufacturing facility, an agriculture education program and new or expanded programs for business projects like the major semiconductor production facility in Burlington as projects either under development or needing attention.
