Residents won’t have much time to enjoy considerably warmer temperatures with another round of arctic air set to hit the area by week’s end.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties from 9 pm Thursday through noon Friday. The reason for the advisory is the impending return of below-freezing temperatures and wind chills well under zero.
Thursday has a forecasted high near 30 degrees, similar to what we are seeing Wednesday, before the overnight low drops back to the low single digits. Wind gusts could reach as high as 40 mph leading to wind chills between -6 and -16.
