The 2024 election ballot won’t be limited to Democrats, Republicans, independents and Libertarians.
Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab says No Labels Kansas has met all legal requirements to be officially recognized as a political party. As a minor party like the LIbertarians, it cannot take part in the August primary and has to nominate general election candidates in November by convention or caucus. Minor parties can become major parties like Republicans and Democrats if their gubernatorial candidate gets at least five percent of the statewide vote.
Before No Labels Kansas, the last political party to be officially recognized was Americans Elect back in 2012. It was short-lived; the party failed to nominate any candidates that year, so it lost recognition the following year.
