Arctic cold is on its way back into the local listening area beginning Thursday night.
Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties from 9 pm Thursday until noon Friday. A separate advisory goes for Chase County from midnight Thursday to 10 am Friday and from midnight Thursday to 11 am Friday for Greenwood County.
The advisories come with overnight lows set to hit the low single digits Thursday night into Friday morning with windchills between -7 and -20. Friday will see highs in the mid-teens with subzero windchills yet again.
This will be the second round of arctic air in the past week, however, it will not be as long-lived with temperatures set to top 30 degrees Saturday and continue to climb to the low 40s by midweek next week.
