The Emporia State baseball team is ranked eighth in the 2024 MIAA Preseason Baseball Coaches Poll. Central Missouri is picked to win the league with 10 first place votes with Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State selected second and third and each getting one first place vote. The Hornets are set to begin a new era with former Hornet Brad Hill taking over for his first season as ESU head coach. Kadyn Williams and Ian Lanik both return for ESU after receiving All-MIAA Honorable Mention honors in 2023. Williams hit .278 last year with eight home runs for the Hornets while Ian Lanik made 12 starts with a 5.10 ERA. ESU opens up play at the Edmond First Pitch Tournament in Oklahoma on February 1. Play-by-play coverage is planned for Hornet baseball in 2024 on Mix 104.9. The broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.
