Agreements will be the focus of the Emporia Recreation Commission’s monthly meeting Monday.
The board could approve a memorandum of understanding with the city of Emporia about a new steering committee to lead the process for a new or renovated public recreation building with the Lee Beran Recreation Center too small for current or projected future demand. Concerns about the makeup of the original steering committee, primarily with not enough community representation or input, were mentioned at the Rec Commission’s December meeting.
Separately, board members could also approve a recommendation to the city about the Rec Commission’s annual agreement for managing the Jones Aquatic Center.
Other topics include an update on GolfZon simulator use, a discussion on program participation both “in district” and “out of district and bids on used pickup trucks. Also, there will be conversation about Emporia’s Radio Stations receiving the Distinguished Public Service Award at the Kansas Recreation and Park Association state conference later this month.
Monday’s meeting begins at 5:30 pm at the Lee Beran Rec Center.
