Financial and infrastructure matters are front and center for the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education this week.
Board members will discuss the 2022-23 financial audit report as presented by GordonCPA’s Sean Gordon, Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations Pam Stranathan and District Director of Business Cate Cape.
Board members will follow that discussion with conversation about Phase 2 for a roof replacement project at Emporia High, which could be completed this upcoming summer.
Also during the meeting, the board will recognize the district’s 2024 Horizon Award winners — Blair Conley, an adaptive special education teacher at Riverside Elementary, and Allison Jones, the theater teacher at Emporia Middle School.
The meeting starts at 6 pm at Mary Herbert Education Center, marking the first meeting under the new start time after recent board approval. Previous meetings had started at 6:30 pm.
