One of the longest running high school basketball tournaments west of the Mississippi River begins this week.
Despite having the tournament pushed back a day due to the weather, the 103rd Lyon County League Tournament will be played beginning Tuesday at White Auditorium.
Lyon County League Tournament Director Ted Vannocker says league teams look forward to this time of the year.
Monday’s games that were postponed will be played on Tuesday with Tuesday’s games being pushed to Wednesday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday schedules remain the same.
Country 101.7 FM, KVOE.com and KVOE TV at KVOE.com will carry all four games on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as well as third place and championship games on Saturday. Coverage Tuesday through Friday will begin at 3:55 p.m. with the first game to tip at 4 p.m. Saturday’s coverage will begin at 2:55 p.m.
Tuesday’s first round games will be the 3-6 and 2-7 matchups. Tuesday’s schedule begins at 4 p.m. with the Madison girls taking on Hartford. That will be followed by the Burlingame boys taking on Waverly at 5:30 p.m. At 7 p.m, the Lebo girls will take on Waverly and at 8:30 p.m. the Lebo boys will take on MdCV.
Wednesday’s first round games will be the 1-8 and 4-5 matchups. Wednesday’s schedule begins at 4 p.m. with the MdCV girls taking on Burlingame. At 5:30 p.m., the Madison boys face Hartford. At 7 p.m., it’ll be the beginning of a traditional doubleheader with both the Olpe girls and boys taking on Southern Coffey County.
Consolation semifinals are set for Thursday with championship semifinals set for Friday. Place game take place all day Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
