Eight area high school basketball teams are ranked in the latest KBCA rankings released on Tuesday.
For the first team this season, the Emporia High boys are ranked in Class 5A checking in at No. 10. Emporia High is 7-3 on the season with two huge games this week. The Spartans travel to Junction City, who is ranked ninth in Class 6A, on Thursday and then play a makeup game against Manhattan on Saturday.
Despite winning their fifth consecutive game, the Emporia High girls dropped a spot to No. 6 in 5A. The Lady Spartans are 7-1 and will open up the Glacier’s Edge Tournament at 7 p.m. Thursday against Wichita Southeast. Three other teams in the Glacier’s Edge Tournament are ranked. Highland Park, the top-seed in the tournament is ranked eighth in 5A. Derby is ranked sixth
Areawide on the boys side, the Lyndon boys are ranked No. 1 in Class 2A. The Olpe boys are ranked No. 3 in 1A-Division I. The Lebo boys are ranked No. 8 in 1A-Division II. On the girls side, the Madison girls are ranked seventh in 1A-DI while Olpe is eighth. The Lebo girls are ranked No. 1 in 1A-DII.
