The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce has finished its announcements for annual awards.
Chamber President and CEO Jeanine McKenna has announced Emporia Spanish Speakers as the recipient of the Community Impact Award. Founded in 2017, Emporia Spanish Speakers has been working towards developing a more inclusive community with a range of programs and events for young and old alike, including language programs, dance classes, cultural art projects and Spanish-language community fairs.
Emporia Spanish Speakers joins Clark Carpet and Tile as the Business of the Year and Karen Belford as the Volunteer of the Year. Local veterinarian Duane Henrikson has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
All will be recognized during the Chamber’s Annual Meeting coming Friday at the Emporia State Memorial Union Webb Hall.
