All four higher seeds in the first four games of the Lyon County League Tournament advanced to Friday’s championship semifinals on Tuesday at White Auditorium.
The Madison girls were the first to advance to Friday and held off Hartford, 38-34. Jalynn Weakley led Madison with 10 points while Tobye Sull led Hartford with a game-high 13 points. Madison will face Lebo, who defeated Waverly, 49-21. Saige Hadley led the way for Lebo with 17 points, while Josie Romig had eight for Waverly.
The Burlingame boys had no troubles defeating Waverly, 49-28. Dane Winters led Burlingame with 16. Ben Meehan had 17 for Waverly. Burlingame will face Lebo who had no issues defeating MdCV, 52-19. Grayson Shoemaker led Lebo with 16 points.
Madison and Lebo will kick off Friday’s championship semifinals at 4 p.m. and will be followed by Burlingame and Lebo on the boys side at 5:30 p.m.
Hartford and Waverly will meet in the first girls consolation semifinal at 4 p.m. Thursday. Waverly and MdCV will meet in the first boys consolation semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Quarterfinal action continues on Wednesday. At 4 p.m., the Burlingame girls will take on MdCV. At 5:30 p.m., the Madison boys will take on Hartford. The final two games of the night will be a doubleheader between Olpe and Southern Coffey County.
