Today with our Chiefs still in the Super Bowl chase Steve addresses one of his pet peeves – social media Posts that are unfair and not positive.
He starts with a riddle
How are chocolate chip cookies and TV Sports announcers alike?
The answer: They are all good – some are just better than others.
His point is – if these announcers were not extremely talented they wouldn’t be anywhere near a network TV job. So, when Steve’s friend from Kansas City posts that Kevin Burkhart and Greg Olsen were “awful” – it’s sad.
These announcers have spent hours and hours honing the art of analyzing sports plays and accurately describing them. This may not be a very important talent in the whole scheme of things but it’s a talent that took lots of work to perfect.
Steve is especially impressed with the females who work football. Simply asking a coach a question on the field at halftime can be terrifying. Steve knows because he’s been there!
Television announcing of sports has become an art form. Like all art – some folks are impressed, others not so much.
Next time you listen or watch a game pay attention to the information the announcers share about each player. You’ll be impressed too by our Blake Cripps and Dylan Sherwood. Sports announcer’s preparation should be appreciated, not mocked.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but unfair or un-informed thoughts are best kept unsaid.
So, like mom always said – “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all” especially on Facebook.
Even Tony Romo deserves a cookie, he was awesome on Sunday!!
I’m Bobbi with Steve’s Something to Think About this week.
