Pretrial and arraignment is now the next step for an Overland Park man and former Emporia State student charged with distributing several kinds of illegal drugs in Emporia this past fall.
At a preliminary hearing Monday, prosecutors amended the legal complaint, or charge list, against 20-year-old Caden Hunt to change the dates of alleged activity — but the 20-year-old still faces 16 total counts, mainly revolving around the alleged distribution of cocaine, LSD, marijuana, cannabinoids and psilocybin but also including the use of a cell phone and social media apps to make transactions.
Hunt’s bond conditions were modified slightly, removing the requirement of GPS monitoring.
Hunt’s arrest followed a nearly month-long investigation by Emporia Police that included a search of Emporia State’s Sigma Tau Gamma house. The fraternity dismissed Hunt as a member shortly after his arrest.
The pretrial is at 2 pm Feb. 16. Potential trial dates are often scheduled as part of these hearings.
