Emporia State football has received honors on and off the field for 2024. Junior wide receiver Tyler Kahmann and senior punter Ross Brungardt have been named Second Team Academic All-Americans by College Sports Communicators. Kahmann had a 3.70 GPA studying business and was a consensus Second Team All-American after catching a Hornet record 20 touchdowns this year. Brungardt graduated with a 3.72 GPA in marketing and has a graduate GPA of 3.67 in business administration. Brungardt was named a Don Hansen All-American Honorable Mention and was the MIAA Special Teams Player of the Year after leading the MIAA in punting average. He also set a Hornet career average of 42.1 yards per punt. It is the eighth-straight year ESU football has had a player honored as an Academic All-American, the longest active streak in NCAA Division II.
