Following the brutal cold that passed through the area over the past two weeks, emergency assistance is expected to see an increase for the Salvation Army of Emporia.
At least that’s the thoughts of Salvation Army Captain Mylie Hadden, a recent guest of KVOE’s Morning Show Wednesday.
Hadden says it appears as though the need has “already picked up” a little bit in the local community since the recent cold snap. While preparing for the likely increase in need, Hadden says she has been keeping an eye on recent studies that track individuals who receive assistance such as that provided by the Salvation Army and its ability to help reduce homelessness.
Hadden adds the Salvation Army does have funds readily available for those in need.
