Lebo girls trailed early before finding their groove before defeating Madison 53-36. Audrey Peak led the way for Lebo with 24. Caylin Luthi led Madison with 17.
On the other side of the bracket, Olpe shot lights out from the field hitting nine 3’s in their victory over MDCV 73-37. Kadey Robert led the way with 32 for Olpe, and Akyra Traver led MDCV with 15.
It will be the 10th Lyon County League Championship matchup between Olpe and Lebo. Lebo defeated Olpe in last year’s final 50-40. Olpe leads all schools with 44 championship appearances, winning 31 championships. Lebo is in their fifth straight final, 12th overall. Lebo has won the tournament four times.
On the boys side of the bracket, Lebo advanced past Burlingame 57-38. Dominic Risner led the way for Lebo with 26, while Drake Skirvin added 14 for Burlingame.
Olpe powered past Madison 72-35, behind 22 points from Brecken McGuire. Colten Isch was the leading scorer for Madison with 14.
Olpe, the defending back-to-back tournament champions are looking to become the first team since Waverly (1989-1992) to win three or more straight. Olpe is in their 20th championship final, and has won 11 times. Lebo lost to Olpe in last year’s final 54-44, and are making their 18th finals appearance. Lebo has six championship victories.
