The combination of light rain and melting snow this week has apparently contributed to a short list of road closures in northern Lyon County.
On Thursday evening, the Lyon County Highway Department closed Road 225 between Roads F and F-5, or Americus Road, about two miles south of Americus due to water over the road. The Highway Department has not reopened Road P-5 between US Highway 56 and Admire after closing that road Wednesday.
The KVOE studios got 0.40 inches total Thursday, meaning almost an inch of rain this week. The Emporia Municipal Airport had 0.21 inches Thursday.
