Friday was a time to celebrate for the Emporia business community.
The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce held its 126th Annual Meeting at Emporia State’s Memorial Union Webb Hall, and Chamber President and CEO Jeanine McKenna says it was a busy year.
Local veterinarian Duane Henrikson, this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner, says dedication to community was a hallmark of his family growing up.
Clark Carpet and Tile was the Business of the Year. Co-owner Lori Clark was humbled.
Karen Belford was honored as the Volunteer of the Year. Emporia Spanish Speakers got the Community Impact Award.
Part of the evening involved a recognition of last year’s projects, including the work of Ignite Emporia on childcare and housing matters, the work of Visit Emporia to foster tourism and the efforts of the Regional Development Association to bolster the area’s manufacturing base.
